A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire is a much different experience in the class.
It's more about dealing with grown up themes. Characters admit to
having grown up feelings. They make grown up mistakes. The action is
highly charged to the point that it's impossible for things to hold
together, and in fact, they don't.
In the class our professor made these characters come to life for the students by making us to act out the play
as we read it in class. However we didn't have costumes and decorations to
arrange the set of the play in the class but we are able to understand the interactions between
the characters and the gestures, motions, and violence in
the play.

Ancient cultures provide some of our deepest
connections to the humanities, drawing life from that distant time when
the study of history, philosophy, arts, literature, and language itself
began. Even-though through Internet we can return to those times and read about it. We won't get the feel about those times unless it is pictured. Through that we can also study the timeless nature of
the human condition and the profound effects of the human drama on
people of any era.
This lesson plan begins with the study of Sophocles' Antigone and the issues it raises about power, gender, family obligation, ethics, and honor. It then moves to an exploration of ancient Greece, accents and its importance at those times. The nature of tragedy in this type of culture was also studied.
The narrator in this story is very sarcastic, and distant when it comes to people watching. The characters in this story aren’t directly approached or known, we see these characters through his eyes and his point of view, which makes the story seem as though you are living it through the narrator.
The narrator has mixed emotions toward the different women in the story who shopped at the store. When the young women walked in in, he suddenly started to describe all off them in certain ways. He was impressed at one girl and basically fell in love with her. As the girl was explaining why her mother sent her in the store. The boy imagined how the mothers would look. His attitude differentiated between the women because he had different opinions of them. This kind of tells us that the narrator would only be focused on the person or people that are appealing to his senses.
